Wow what a year! We had to 'hit the ground running' when we arrived at Cats Whiskers; a house with no furniture and more than 20 cats to feed the first evening. As I write this one year later, 20 to 30 cats to feed would feel like a rest.
What has happened in our first year? We got to know many wonderful characters, both cats and owners, and only some of them have left scars!
We took in refugees at very short notice when Stile Cottage Cattery was flooded in July. We are happy to say that all the cats settled in with us and none suffered from their ordeal of being carried away from danger across the fields. Stile Cottage is hoping to be open for business again in October.
We added an extra Executive Chalet and nicknamed all three of them. The 'Toyshop' is the favourite holiday spot for Oska and Baggles, with more toys than Hamleys. 'Gotham City' is where Batman and Robin like to lounge on the shelves and be admired by all. The 'Honeymoon Suite' is where lucky cats have sunned themselves whilst Mum and Dad were tying the knot.
We've made other changes behind the scenes that won't be noticeable to the casual eye but help us to keep everyone in our care as happy and as healthy as possible.
In our 'spare' time we have acquired 4 ducks, Dipti, Mrs Campbell, String and Sargeant, and 2 drakes, Sanjeev and Bean. We have dug ourselves 2 forty foot long vegetable beds and are enjoying the fruit and veg of our labour. We have also dug an enormous pond in the back garden. Since it was dug back in June we've been too busy to finish and line it, but back in the floods it was full to the top.
We appear to have a mole boarding facility in our back garden. Our 2 dogs, Boogie and Spike are trying their best to catch them but they just can't tunnel fast enough!
